Homeowners are doing their part to protect against wildfires, it’s time the government does too. AB 758 forces state and local agencies to maintain their public lands with regular fire hazard assessments and mandates 200-foot firebreaks where government land borders private property. It also requires all fire safety evaluations and cost plans to be made public online. With wildfires threatening more homes each year, this bill ensures government landowners are held accountable as fire-safe neighbors.
