California families are being crushed by skyrocketing healthcare costs — and Sacramento politicians keep offering the same failed solution: spend more taxpayer money without fixing the problem.
That’s why I spoke out against AJR 25 and am pushing a better plan to actually lower health insurance premiums by addressing the root causes of the cost crisis.
Sacramento Created a Cost Crisis in Health Care
Under current policies, mandates and regulations imposed by state leaders are driving up the cost of health care — leaving families paying more and getting less.
Because of reckless policies in our state, the cost of healthcare is 3x or 4x what it is in other states.
For example, according to the Transparency Foundation, the cost of an ER visit in California is a whopping $3238 (versus just $682 in Maryland). The cost of an ambulance ride in California is a staggering $2407 (versus just $661.50 in North Carolina).
Instead of eliminating crazy mandates and costly regulations driving up the cost of health care, Sacramento continues to propose billions more in subsidies that will only make costs rise even further. But it gets worse…
More Free Healthcare for Illegal Immigrants – But Premium Increases for CA Citizens
California politicians just voted to gift roughly $13 billion in taxpayer funds to provide free healthcare to illegal immigrants.
These same politicians just voted to allow a massive $2.5 billion increase in healthcare premiums on our own citizens.
This is outrageous!
Our citizens deserve healthcare cost relief – and we can easily provide that relief if we simply stop giving illegal immigrants free taxpayer-funded healthcare.
We should be prioritizing California citizens, veterans, and working families — not expanding costly programs that strain our budget and drive up healthcare prices.
DeMaio’s Plan to Lower CA Health Care Costs
I’ve outlined a common-sense approach to reducing health care costs in our state that would:
- Refocus state spending to provide real premium relief for Californians
- Address costly mandates and regulations that are driving up healthcare prices
- Ensure taxpayer resources are used to benefit citizens who are struggling with rising costs
Fighting the Cost-of-Living Crisis
Californians already face some of the highest costs of living in the country. We should not continue policies that make healthcare even more unaffordable.
This proposal is part of my ongoing effort to tackle California’s cost-of-living crisis and put working families first.
