The DeMaio Second Chance Challenge

Assemblyman Carl DeMaio is partnering with the San Diego Humane Society to help local shelter pets find the loving homes they deserve during DeMaio’s Second Chance Challenge — a special adoption event happening June 12–14 at San Diego Humane Society campuses across San Diego County.

As part of this community effort, the first 100 adoptions are completely FREE, sponsored by Assemblyman DeMaio, with discounted adoption fees continuing afterward. Families and animal lovers are encouraged to visit participating campuses to meet adoptable dogs, cats, and other companion animals looking for a second chance.

Event Info: 

• FREE ADOPTIONS for the first 100 pets adopted (7 months and older)
• Just $25 adoption fees for eligible adult pets after the first 100 adoptions
• More than 765 adult pets are currently available for adoption
• Adoption packages include:
  • Spay/Neuter surgery
  • Current vaccinations
  • Permanent microchip identification
  • Post-adoption training support
  • Free veterinary exam at participating clinics

Assemblyman DeMaio will visit campuses throughout the day on Saturday, June 13, to meet adopters, support shelter staff, and spotlight the importance of pet adoption in our community.
